Sharonda "Ms. Phoenix" Jones

In a dream, she believed...

Mrs. Sharonda Jones is no stranger to paving a way for herself through uncharted waters.  A DC Public Schools graduate who finished first in her class in spite of homelessness and dysfunctions in her home environment.  Not allowing those trials and the added pressures of becoming a single mother at 20, she continued her education and graduated from college with honors with degrees in engineering and architecture.   Sharonda has worked on both large-scale design/build construction projects and private, single- and multi-family residences in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Arkansas and the British Virgin Islands.  But it is her passion for community service that pleases her the most.

In addition to her professional career, Sharonda has made giving back to her community a priority.  The Big Brother Big Sister program, ACE Mentor Program of America, Inc., and the Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation are only a few of the organizations where she has volunteered countless hours of service, teaching and mentoring.

"God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts.  Use them well to serve one another." ~ 1 Peter 4:10 NLT

In 2016, Sharonda decided to combine her love and a gift for serving with her STEAM background and experience.  She created the STEAM Power program and later founded the Little Phoenixes Foundation with a focus of incorporating the principles of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics ‘STEAM’ to empower youth to DREAM, BELIEVE, and RISE above their circumstances.

Sharonda holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree and an Associates of Applied Sciences degree in architectural engineering from the University of the District of Columbia.
