In 2017…
With a grant from the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative, we held our first STEAM Power Summer Enrichment program for girls located at the Gateway Pavilion in Washington, D.C.
Classes were held on Saturdays from 9am - 1pm during the month of July and included our hands on activities for the girls to engage in science, technology, engineering, art and math, as well as a field trip to the Marian Koshland Science Museum.
Activities included:
Coding
Journaling
Empowerment lessons
Building skyscrapers
Energy and light experiments
In addition to workshops and the field trip being provided at no-cost to the participants, the girls received lunch and afternoon snacks, a STEAM Power t-shirt, journal and drawstring backpack.
